As you can see it's also running on Manjaro Linux on my old laptop. Why Linux? Well, on that particular computer (and only on this one from all computers I tested) all models are distorted beyond recognition when running any version of Windows. Tried reinstalling the OS, tried changing Win 7 to Win 10, always ending up with the same result.

Well, as it works under Linux, we can rule out hardware issue, so we'll have to investigate it later.
If you want to help us with this one and have old PC/laptop released in years 2004-2008 capable of running Windows 7, PM me. We have our theory why it might behave this way, but it's shot in the dark.

My bro said his comp is like from 09, have you tried emulating it on a virtual machine with super low settings?

It's not issue with performance, that I can tell you now, so VM test won't help.
I suspect that the problem is OpenGL that on Windows runs on 2.0 and on Linux on 2.1.
I will try a few things today, when I'm home.

I have few updates for you.

The problem was OpenGL 2.0. Everything works well on 2.1 and this (or later) version will be required to play.Windows client will work on Linux (and probably Mac, will test it later) with WINE. We don't know if we'll compile native versions for Linux and Mac, but we'll make sure to make it fully playable on WINE.

I also managed to optimize fire and smoke effects on the firepit and increased average FPS from ~15 to ~23 while bot is burning on our low spec reference machine (specs: click)

And finally, probably the most interesting and important thing: Farum managed to code big part of lobby code and challenged me Smile

We are experimenting with some ideas with the net code, to make it more portable and independent of
Windows.

We are not promising anything, think of it as 50/50, but based on these changes it MIGHT be possible to compile an Android app without too much effort put in porting.

Our main goal is still Windows version, and that's what we are focusing on right now. If we ever make Android version, it will be released after PC version.

Before anyone asks: Android and PC players would share the same lobby, as controls in RR are quite simple and physical keyboard will not give you big advantage.

A question I have will there be any game wipes (Users credits, Ranks, Bots, etc) with updated game versions going from alpha to beta stuff like that?

Almost finished the paint part. There is still misalignment from the model and mesh overlay, that's why I turn it off in the beginning. There is still no server synchronization of skins or distinction between bots.

[To anyone reading in the future: this is of course April Fools post]

We are dropping development of RobotRage Reborn in it's current form.
We decided it's just not modern and interesting enough for wider audience, so we are replacing some of the core mechanics: from now on you'll drive not one, but six bots!
Six is better than one, isn't it? Of course it is! Six times the bots, six times the fun!
As we are learning from the best, the battles will be turn based, just like out beloved classics, eg. Heroes 3.
Furthermore, instead of building bots we have an original idea: you will encounter and catch them in special balls during exploration of game world. You will then train them during battles.
As for paintjobs and any weapon upgrades: lootcrates!  We all love them, don't we? Don't worry of course they will be free. Instead of paying for it will money, we'll just run full scan of your machine (may include accessing your camera, microphone, geolocation, browsing history, stored files, password managers and more) and will sell all this data to advertisers and any other interested party. That will allow you to play for free, and us to pay for servers Smile

Seems like a great idea, the extra bots could be drones though, we've all seen how great they are in battlebots.

Yup, we have that in plans, although this will be DLC only for people on whose machines our scrapper (mentioned in previous post) finds some nudes.
Oh, and also because of that, you will have to type your credit card number during registration, to prove you're not underage.

Not much news from us recently, so I'm posting.
There are two major changes in the code: Farum managed to replace all Windows dependencies fron network code with universal ones. Took him a lot of time and work, but was worth it; we are a step closer to compiling for Android and iOS. Give him one clap for that, he deserved it.
As for second change: in the time Farum was fighting with the network code I managed to write backend for paintjobs; they are now stored on server, loaded from it and sent to it if any changes are made in paintshop.

I wanted to record you a video of the progress today, but there is a ton of bugs in the game right now.
For instance I somehow managed to apply bot's paintjob on the floor...

In other cases bot's paintjob disappears completely.

But yeah, (very) slowly we are making progress. Although it's not setting proper values for shields and battery, bot creation now works, same with serverside bot deletion- client can't yet send the proper command to the server, and dies trying to.

For other news: we did some code refactoring, to speed up development in the future.

Yeah, we found the reason: some of map models had identifiers generated by AGK library, and these were overlaping with our identifiers for bot's paintjobs. We changed all ids to to our system and now they work as intended (it was still our fault, not AGK's).

Hmm, it seems a bit odd that while in the buy parts section you can't see your own credits.
And I still find the UI during the battle a bit out of place, like it was just put there, could use a partial frame around it like in the original.
