There was a bot in the old RR called •RAZER• who made it to 50,000 points, close to the top of the high score list. I made a thread about him, a play on the word "Raiser," which was used to describe people who win-traded with themselves, lol. Good times...

It's 2015 and it seems impossible for us the have the game we really like, wich is RR We have been thrown back into the digital dark ages

Artificial intelligence is on it's way , supercomputers check our every movement, but we are supposed to believe that our old game cannot be remade because it's somehow not possible to combine it with the internet we have today .. All my favorite games have disapeared from existence .. super crappy new ones have been given in return. Digital drivel .. I'm starting to feel like I've arrived in a really bad alternate future timeline where Biff Tannen has corrupted the planet and we need to go back to the future

Ah, I feel your pain. I just want to point out that our old game can be remade. It just wouldn't use the same technology of course. The people in charge, unfortunately, do not think it is worth remaking, and to host it as is would not work supposedly (this is the part that I don't understand).

From what I remember (and conjecture), Robot Rage used a p2p connection, which meant that the game was literally hosted on one of the player's computers (I think it was the fence.) Since only the fences had a connection which could host the game, walls could not play against other walls - or even see them in the lobby!

This model is obviously outdated - I've never seen any other game in which some of the players are incapable of playing others due to connection issues, unless they're on entirely different servers. And if Robot Rage were to be set up with a server instead of p2p, the whole thing would have to be rewritten.

That being said, I don't see why a game similar to Robot Rage couldn't be designed up from scratch. But if there aren't any experienced programming teams, game company executives, or eccentric venture capitals interested, it sadly won't happen.
