| In games like 8ball poll only one of players takes action at a time, RR needs way different system, because all players do things at once and so we get the lag, lag could be reduced by removing robots being flippable and the shadows from the game... Robots moving at different speeds is a serious issue, dunno why, but everyone says imma faster then them, my lag number is usually under 200, that I understand is time in milliseconds it takes server to receive actions I make from my computer, still I have no idea how ping difference could change my robot speed...
Also guest numbers keep skipping a lot 199 didn't change to 200, but to 1100 instead and today 1999 changed to 11k...

| Well my opinion is that everyone should send their opinion to Miniclip, no matter if it is bad. In this case it is better to send 20 different stories by 20 people that are not perfect than to send one email everyone agrees on, because by the time everyone agrees Miniclip will have made us a RR game so bad .. that the word 'fun' will be stricken from your memory bank, it is good to post but it is better to send those posts to the email MissMorris gave us, sooner than later. - missmorris wrote:

If you are interested in helping us to make this game awesome, please email me at social@miniclip.com.
Cheers,
missmorris Distroyer, why is lag a bigger problem when playing battles with more than 2 robots ? In battles between 2 people there were also lags as we know, but it wasn't a problem.

| Subject: email to Missmorris - sorry for doublepost - Sun Sep 16, 2012 7:26 pm | |
| This is my email to MissMorris, sorry for the doublepost -------------------------------------------------------------- Hello MissMorris I played your beta RR3 and I have to say, it was underwhelming. I am not sure if you have the possibility to rebuild and adjust RR rearmed (our last working RR) or if copyright issues prevent you from using that as the blueprint (I have asked you this in my last email but I had no answer so far) but I recommend you use Robot Rage Rearmed from Raketspel as the outline of your new RR. I will try to summarize what is wrong with this one and what should be done but it is too long a list of bad things and that's why I say: Use our version as your starting point and you have 75% of the issues handled. COMMENTS - Spoiler:
- The music is annoying, I liked the city sounds and blowing wind in our last game much better. After reloading more than 5 times it get tedious. No music will do fine
- The robot isn't very mean looking is it .. it looks like a kids toy and kids play this game but they do not like to be reminded of the fact they are kids, this will appeal to no one. Take the RRR chassis or the chassis designs by IGIT (admin on this forum), he designed my signature, the robot with the red wheels, take a look at that.
- The city looks bad .. and one building with bright white neons is clearly repeating itself every 2 streets. that is bad. Take a look at how RRRearmed used to look.
- The handling of the robot is bad, it cannot make sharp corners, and there is no drifting, that is boring.
- When falling off the roof the camera doesn't zoom in on the bot, in RRR we could watch our bot fall to bits in the streets, that was way better because you feel more drawn in the experience.
- No fire in the firepit
- Too much black and yellow marking everywhere
- Building on the roof are too low, nothing to hide behind, no suspense, no strategy
- the camera angle doesn't show the side of the bot when it takes a corner, Need For Speed World does show this, take a car for a drive there to see what I mean. This adds to the loose 3D feeling.
- The graphics are uninspired and TOO realistic. I would prefer less realism to more fun designs, who cares if it is realistic or not it is a game. I like the RRR graphics, a mixture of both.
- the multiplayers puppet faces for finding players are lame and childish
- A roulette to find your opponents ? Are you trying to say that finding an opponent is a gamble ? This cab get really annoying .. Make sure you build a good and fast connection system. This was the reason the last RR failed !!! so make sure you read this
- There are no sounds for the steel doors slamming shut at the start and no sounds when the bot hits something, just the annoying music that you can't shut off in the game ..
- the rotating steel wheel from a horror movie is too violent and graphic for young kids
- The game is TOO much like the TV program robot wars or something of that kind, and it should be more like SCI FI robots, fantasy in the technical realm. Lose the idea that it all has to make sense ..
- The font is decent but boring .. think cubic letters. such as are used in sci fi movies or in space, like nasa or something that looks futuristic.
- somehow the roof looks smaller than what we are used to. Maybe it's a visual that makes it look less spacious.
- The darkbrown nightsky is depressing, I liked black or the one RRR used with purple and blue fading to night
SUGGESTIONS - Spoiler:
- Make RR3 as customizable as possible. Music, cam angels, chassis chapes, wheels, weapons, sounds, volumes, coloring, CUSTOM PAINT JOBS like we used to know, anything, people always like to have options and make someting creative and their own. Take a look at the Need For Speed World interface and see what they did. - Use a chassis design similar to RRR, or contact IGIT on this forum - Bot's being able to flip over .. a nice idea !! - To make money from this game I have a few ideas for you. Besides selling superweapons packs , you might consider renting add space inside the game, these can be at many places like, the inside of the wall on the roof (like a footbal match would have) On the robot, reward players with free weapons or advantages if they are willing to accept a logo or company painted on their robot. RRR had a large Raketspel sign on the roof, place adds there. Place adds in the lobby, like facebook has them, around the edges, just MAKE SURE they are not popping up or moving too much, they need to be static. I am sure you can think of even more options - Have prefab paints, for those who cannot paint well and have a far more advanced paintshop as we used to have. You should realise that the MAIN atraction about Robot rage was the customizable paints !! - Show damage on bots, again, take a look at RRR - Introduce vynils to apply to robots, as an addition to the custom paints - Multiplayer, more robots fighting at once in a battle is a great idea, allthough we enjoyed RRR a lot even if it had only 2 players fighting - As Beasty said, it is nice to have the option to linger in the battle when you have been terminated in a battle and see how the other players are doing, a chat is offcourse somthing needed here.Make sure you can preset a battle-table in such a way though, that the game can be locked and it can silence the chat, or restrict distractions. another custom feature .. - Add a chat (!) a Chat in the lobby while waiting will keep players from leaving if they can't get a battle yet and a chat inside the game is also great to have. There are auto anti-curse programs that remove the need for an admin watching things, you can even auto ban someone for a day if they get out of line. We made our own chat as Robot rage Survivors and I think it is the reason so many of us stayed in touch and are still active on this forum. - Add night / day different lighting for different times of the day ? nfsw does this - Add weather ?? just an idea. to have the roof in rain, making it slippery, to have it snow in december making it extra slippery. A frozen roof after rainfall will be great fun - Make grey your main theme color. Grey is underestimated as a color, you can make the game look grimm and mean by using shades of grey and yellow and black, those are also the original colors of RR - Have a custom music button, for in game music that you can switch on and off and can reduce manually. Have more options like, hiphop, metal, styles - make it possible to have many robots in one account , make it able to save them and do not use any auto deletion rule, perhaps to delete them when the acount has been inactive for a year. The Garage of RRR was not bad at all .. give it a look - have many weapons as an option and make the robots as customizable as possible, that means being able to combine all kinds of wheels, motors, sizes and also being able to apply any kind of weapon anywhere on the robot plus the option to have the same weapon installed twice, on the front and on the back. - Make a system where you win credits by playing much and being good so you reward active players with all they can buy, fast engines, weapons etc - Keep the razor discs (we had in RRR) omg that was so much fun, I really miss RRR ! - add neons, much like NFSW (need for speed world) has on their cars, a neon under the chassis, sweet. - Have wheels in different types, shapes and sizes and colors - Make taller buildings on the roof, see RRR, it had some faded grafitti too, that looked nice
SUMMARY Comparing the new beta to RRR it seems the Robot Rage we used to have is just really good isn't it .. it makes me appreciate it even more now it's gone and I have been playing it for years. basically it's just a winner, and you would do well to use that version as the basis for a RR3 revival. Perhaps see if you can get in touch with the guys that updated RR1 to RR2 ? When so many people come came back again and again to try to play RR telling us they miss the game (I am saying trying to play.. the lobby connection system prevented anyone from actually having a battle, so make sure you get that handled) as you can see here, taken a few weeks ago - Spoiler:
That means you have a winner and all you have to do is enhance and improve the game to have a garanteed succes. Do's and Don'ts DO'S - Spoiler:
Customizability - This always translates to a feeling of being in control and makes the game so much more fun because you can make it more personal. Options .. many features and varieties in items aswell as presets and custom options for gameplay and audio.
Oldskool - Robot Rage features, keep what works instead of making something new at great expense that will not even be liked. Keep the speed, keep the action
Connectabillity - If the players cannot play the game, nothing else will make any difference ! This is the reason our RR fizzled out,
DON'T's - Spoiler:
Cliches - Do not try to emulate TV or reality or try to make things look genuine and realistic, use your imagination instead, take a good look at how RRR used to show. Music isn't always a good thing, also, avoid making it into a typical Miniclip 8yr old kids game, the beta allready looks somewhat like that, rather dodgy. Stick to what works
Pay to play - Keep it a free game to keep it accessible , make money in other ways.
accuracy over adventure - Please do not make us a bloodless, boring version of RR where every lag is eliminated but at the expense of the feeling of speed, action, anger and violent collision. They game is called RAGE, never forget that
Quoting the part of this message that sais it best: "accuracy over adventure .. Please do not make us a bloodless, boring version of RR where every lag is eliminated, at the expense of the feeling of speed, action, anger and violent collision. They game is called RAGE, never forget that"
If I get any more ideas, I will send them your way. Good luck ! 2D4

| Great job guys. Here are a few of my suggestions...
1. Go 100%, if you want anyone to like this game you cannot settle for OK. This is supposed to be a replacement for rearmed, and therefore you must set your standards high because ours already are. Remember us! Keep it as close to Rearmed as possible.
2. Ditch the music. Focus more on sound effects that will really bring the robots and their surroundings alive. If you can accomplish that, music will not be necessary.
3. Research what you're doing. The lag is a HUGE problem, and ironically enough, it is a lot worse than the connection issues in Rearmed. Look for good solutions for bad problems, don't just ignore the whole thing and leave it there to rot as Rearmed's problems were.
4. As an artist this pains me to say, but I'm OK with the design as long as the game-play is stellar! STELLAR! As of now, the game-play is not stellar and neither is the design, but if it has to be only one, go for the game-play. Make a game you would actually want to play.
5. Make the interface as similar to Rearmed as possible; including: a garage, a lobby, a paintshop, a workshop, and so on.

| I agree with you on so manyh things, but I few I really do not. I do not agree the lag problem is bigger than the connection problem. if people cannot connect to play a game they will never experience any lag ! problem solved ! I understand why you say this but you will regret playing this game with the snoopyfied fail R2D2 lookalike wannabe robo, even if the rest is stellar and my question to you is, would you be willing to make some free optional designs and send them to Miniclip ? I think they can use the ideas. I would prefer if you get payed offcourse !! Can I copy and send your ideas to MissMorris, IGIT and Noobface ? I asume you haven't yet. If you do not respond I will take that as yes | |

| I am fine with you sending my ideas to MissMorris and I would also be fine with sending some designs to Miniclip if I had a guarantee that they would be used or considered. Lag is basically a connection problem IMO, so what I was saying was that RR3's lag is a lot worse than any lag that I have experienced in Rearmed. And I cannot, in fact, connect to everyone. I have not been able to connect to Distroyer due to many freezes and crashes of the game. In Rearmed I could easily battle Distroyer, but in RR3? No... It is strange, but that's how it is. | |

| finally decided to join forums anyway as for rr3 for me it has extremely bad lag as in my last game it went up to 3756 lag and once it has been at 5000 lag so the main problem for me is lag. also robot design is not very robot-ish and would be better if looked like RR i think this game could be good if they made more rr-like design | |

| Hey, best. Nice to see you on the forums.
I agree with the lag problem. It's just terrible! I wonder how the whole setup is connected. Hopefully Miniclip will have some better servers connected once its out of its BETA stage?

| Email to Miss morris, - Spoiler:
Hello Missmorris
We have been waiting for a few months now to hear from you what is going on with the new RR game you guys wanted to make. We have also not gotten a reply to our individual last emails, wich is a pity. Would you be so kind to let us know what the latest developments are and the prospects for the months ahead ? As you know we are desperate for a new RR to come out but .. the uncertainty of not knowing is worse than having to deal with the fact of life, that there may not be another version of our cherished game Robot Rage. Please, let us know. Pay a visit to our forum, we hope to hear from you !!
Cheers,
2D4
Ps. It seems that even without the game (and without the chat that we had going for some time) the popularity of this game is still growing, we have a new member registering to our forum every week , as a minimum.
