HOW TO GUIDE TO BECOME A FENCE

Just make sure you have one computer connected to a Modem with 4 slots or USB Modem, ask Root about how to be fence on Router.
Of course...uninstall or disable any VPN program running on your PC (hamachi is most common) since it will change your connection and you won't be able to play at all.
Sometimes cables are fences too, no idea how that works, I had a cable that was wall for 4 years and then it turned fence without changing anything in connection.

I became a fence through a special way. My family had dial-up internet as backup because or current internet often went down, but we usually did not use it. My normal internet made me a wall. When I wanted to become a fence, I would connect dial-up. It was significantly slower, unfortunately.

I'll give you a couple days on this one.

Hint:
Dial-up makes you a fence.
Dial-up greatly increases the lag, allowing you to use it to your advantage (such as lag passing).

There are two types of Fence/Walls.
Some players can be either a fence or a wall when they are in the lobby.
Others have to exit the lobby in order to switch position.

Give an example of each. However, there are some restrictions:
Both players have to, at one point, be ranked top 10 in the Robot Rage League.
I do not count for this.

ROUTERS(use anthena)

Wireless Routers

* if 1 computer connected = WALL
* if more than 1 computer connected = can't play anyone except same network users

Wired Routers

=WALL


MODEMS(use phone lines)

DSL(ADSL/SDSL) modems

* if only computers connected = FENCE
* if computer and some other device connected = can't play


USB modems

=FENCE (if connection is fast enough)

CABLE modems (use cable TV lines)

No Data


DIAl UP(uses phone lines)

* if user's computer uses an attached modem =FENCE
* if router is used =WALL



IMPORTANT!

If you use modem and router at same time, you can't play.
(Computer connected to Router that is connected to modem)
However Computer connected to modem via wire and to wireless router will be able

to play, but may not be FENCE anymore.

Avoid using multiple networks at same time!!!
Disable every VPN (Virtual Private Network) through Control Panel.


To disable unneeded network connections you must open:

* if you have windows xp
Control Panel\Network connections
and disable network by right clicking on it

* if you have windows vista
Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center
and then click manage network connection from the left menu

* if you have windows 7
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center
and then click change adapter setting from the left menu

How can you be a fence with a wired router? I'm a wall now :L

What I found out, you can't be a FENCE if you use router...

Ohlol I never answered this.

Abort was what he called a "true fence," a player that could start at both positions without changing their connection. He got up to 5th in the league.
Mozoid (and I believe Goldentooth as well) was a fence that could become a wall by bypassing the router. They peaked at 1st and 3rd, respectively.

Aw man, guess I'll have to dig out an old modem and see if I can use that!
