Dalmat! Is it him?!

A user known as "Dalmat" registered recently.
I would normally call it a fake, but his Miniclip alias signed into the forums just 3 days ago. Odd, because he rarely signs in or posts.

For those who don't know, Dalmat was a legendary hacker. He was one of the first, if not the first, to hack points. He could get a laser on his bot without having a tower, something few can do even today. He could get his 3/2 2+ bot into the 3+ lobby. I think he was in Team R, not positive. It's rumored that he made the vairus robot rage.

So, Dalmat, is it you? Are you the real Dalmat?

If you are, it would be great if you said something.

PS: I have the link to the DCR files of Robot Rage. Maybe you could do something with those.

Sounds good. I've always wondered if a RR - like game could be pulled off, but with Hovering Bots.
Chassis, engine, turbo, weapons, side weapons...

it can, as soon as i get a more stable financial situation meanwhile, get on with ideas, create a top for it or whatever. no hurries though

still no idea, flash a shockwave are too expensive (400$ for flash, 1000$ for shockwave), i was thinking silverlight as its free, but i don't like the present incompatibility with Linux. 3d, actually very similar to robotrage, just with a lot more features, much less bugs and a tight cooperation with the community. there is no point in asking me a lot of questions though, i have a lot of ideas, but without looking more at the financial side of things i can't say. for example, i would like it to be server based, for optimum latencies and more than one on one fights, but it will probably be peer to peer at the beginning. also depends on my situation at the time. we'll see..

Good luck with that, it would be nice if someone would bring something similar to RR up, if you talk about money, just make a game similar to Club Penguin to get money from kids, then you'll have some money and those 1000$ for shockwave won't be that much. Wait, forget about what I just said, just make another RR

what i would like is for you folks to give ideas, i was thinking of adding different types of alloys, maybe stats, or something that would make the way you raise your bot meaningful, like if you raise a bot a certain way, certain weapons become more effective with it. etc etc
also, please think about a name too... isn't there a more active forum or something? is RR that dead?

I might have a weapons list over the next few weeks. Like a full set of 20 weapons or so, all balancing eachother.

great, thanks. don't worry too much about balancing them, since its almost impossible without testing, because you can't really predict the limits of human imagination
there will be a beta period for that.
just to point out some of the directions i was thinking, like starting with vapor engines and moving on and on passing by oil, electric, nuclear whatever, then each weapon would have some affinity to some of them, or whatever, meaning some more mechanical stuff would work better with steam or so and worst, or not at all with the more advanced stuff. then like weapons could be electric, or static or whatever the names, meaning some would consume energy others would not, making the player having to balance the more damage to the dangers of energy running out. etc etc

basically, i need ideas for a whole new concept, not just ideas that fit in the current rr. if you think something is really cool, but you would have to change the base concept for it to work, please do

Well, RR can't just die...it will always have at least 1 player online...about Forums, this would probably be the best forum. I have some more ideas, like new arenas... A game like robot Rage would have clans, right? So you could make arena for clan wars, like 4 on 4 or even more and of course allow everyone to play everyone...it would probably be the key to success...

I'll be thinking about new concepts. Here's one to start with:
RPG-Style RR: Pick a robot class, each class can only use certain weapons. Maybe 3 classes. At a certain rank you can pick from another 3, so maybe 9 total. Or something like that.
Capture the flag RR: You just have to reach the enemy's base/flag. If you lose your health you respawn after a few seconds, or maybe many. This would be played in teams.

This would probably be really hard to do but I think it would be cool If you could have a city you could go in and get to new arenas and fight other robots on the spot. When you fight other robots you could automatically go to a arena near by. You could have races too mario kart style or something 'cuz you can shoot stuff at your opponent.

Are you all crazy. RR is nearly dead. I see 8 people in the lobby, half of them hacked. What happened to KK10 who was saving RR? Now its some other guy? How about the leader that was in chat that was also going to fix it but you ticked him off Root? Listen I have some Club Penquin tokens if anyone is interested.

Don't care about RR. Just using what's left of its community to come up with ideas to make a similar game. Don't care about kids efforts to save RR either. This is a project I've had for some time and I think I'll have the time to do it in a few months. Since you are here, feel free to come up with ideas

Since you don't care about RR, remove vairus.do.sapo.pt link please...You know most people don't use it to chat, they do moneyglitch and super weapon hack on it. Oh btw, did u make it from dcr and cct files?

I do care about RR. What I would do is as jork said stop the hackers. Put the chat back. Remove kami, flash, emp and regen. Leave other weapons as they are. Not hard. Kinda what it was when i first played. Any weapon can be beaten with some skill even emps. I am nobody in RR. Just the oldest player.

You're someone in RR. You are one of the best painters in the game. Being an old player is important as well. And you actually stood up to AG and friends in the forums...something I can't do.

now dalmat is another KK ripoff. Dalmat either tell us you can do this definitely for sure or shut up and talk about old RR 0_o

I don't have to prove anything, there are a few people who know I'm capable. I'm asking for ideas because I will be listening to the community, and talking to the experts and implementing these feautures before the beta would be much easier than endless updates after release

KK knew a lot about RR. And its programming. He spent hours telling me about servers, director, and about Team R history. You can see why I trusted him.

Dalmat knows even more and has already proven himself (vairus link). I'm working on the ideas.

Here's a rough draft of the classes and strengths. Haven't named anything yet.
Tell me if you like it; I could elaborate with time.

Class A - High speed, medium damage, short range
Class B - High speed, low damage, medium range
Class C - Medium speed, high damage, short range
Class D - Medium speed, low damage, high range
Class E - Low speed, high damage, medium range
Class F - Low speed, medium damage, high range

Every class has their strengths and weaknesses. D would be weak to A which is weak to B. B is weak to E which is weak to F, and that's weak to C.

You pick a class at the start. Each class has its own set of weapons and engines, ect. It wouldn't be hard to balance these classes if you have decent beta testers, which you will. So do you like it? And its fine if you don't. I can think of more things.
